Effective: 11 October 2026
ilm is a weather app for Estonia developed by Elias Mettsberg-Ederle. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it. The short version: ilm has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of its own.
Location
If you allow location access, ilm uses your location to pick the nearest Estonian weather station and to request an hourly forecast for your area. Before the forecast request is sent, your coordinates are rounded to about 1 km. This approximate location is sent only to the forecast service of the Estonian Environment Agency (Keskkonnaagentuur). ilm does not save your location history. You can use the app without location access by choosing a station manually, and you can change this at any time in iOS Settings.
Weather data
Weather observations and forecasts are downloaded from the public services of the Estonian Environment Agency (ilmateenistus.ee). As with any internet connection, these services receive your device's IP address when the app requests data. Their own privacy terms apply to that processing.
Data stored on your device
ilm keeps a copy of the most recently downloaded weather and your manually chosen station on your device, so it can show the weather offline. This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you delete the app.
What ilm does not do
ilm does not collect personal information, does not use analytics or tracking, does not show ads, and does not share or sell any data.
Crash reports
If you have chosen in iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. This is controlled by Apple and your device settings.
Children
ilm does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
